Enterprise Risk Manager – National Water Commission (Kingston)

Our client, the National Water Commission,invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Enterprise Risk Manager

The Role

Reporting to the CFO, the incumbent is responsible for implementing and managing the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management Programme and for leading its Business Continuity Programme; with core responsibilities to:

  • Develop mechanisms to identify, evaluate and mitigate operational and strategic risks, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with the Commission’s strategic direction
  • Develop, implement and maintain Disaster Management and Recovery Plans and manage the Corporate Emergency Preparedness Programme
  • Develop and implement effective Business Continuity plans for key operational areas
  • Assess likely threats to the organisation’s Corporate and Strategic Objectives, to bring a shared understanding of company risks, providing clear, actionable advice to senior leadership
  • Oversee the negotiation of insurance premiums and direct the claims management programme to ensure proper and efficient handling of all claims
  • Reduce risk exposure of claim related activities and resolve bonafide claims at least cost

Preferred Profile:

  • An MBA or equivalent professional qualification, with certification in Enterprise Risk Management
  • At least five (5) years in risk management or auditing,3 of which should be at the senior management level
  • Thorough knowledge of Claims Management, General Insurance and Self-Insurance with the ability to assess the value of a combined strategy
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating and advising on debt portfolios so as to identify all potential risk exposures, as well as the examination of debt settlement options
  • In depth knowledge of disaster management and recovery / continuity planning as well as a proven record of producing comprehensive risk reports
  • Strong critical thinking, planning, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Proven success in working collaboratively with senior leadership, excellent interpersonal, negotiation and people skills; able to influence and guide across departmental boundaries
